SA TOURISM WANTS TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR SPONSORSHIP DEAL

The Department of SA Tourism is hoping to sign a sponsorship deal with English Premier League football giant Tottenham Hotspur.

The deal is worth about R900 million.

Sponsorship of the football club will start at the beginning of the 2023/2024 football season and only end three years later at the end of the 2026/2027 season.

The deal includes kit branding, interview backdrop branding, advertising opportunities on match day, training camps in South Africa, partnership announcements, and free access to tickets as well as stadium hospitality.

With relegation always something in the back of every club’s mind, SA Tourism proposed that it will add bonuses into the mix with the hope that the club’s players will ensure the club won’t be relegated to a lower division during the three years.

“While this is obviously unlikely, given the historic performance of Tottenham Hotspur, raising this will undoubtedly bring into consideration a possible bonus payment to be made by SA Tourism should Tottenham Hotspur perform better than expected,” the proposal read according to News24.

A board meeting to decide the fate of the sponsorship will soon be held.
