SQUID GAME REALITY SERIES CONTESTANTS FILE LAWSUIT
First, there was the fictional Netflix series Squid Game. The show was a massive hit around the world and gained a lot of reactions.
Then, the popular Netflix series gave us a spinoff called Squid Game: The Challenge. The reality series follows 456 players around as they compete in a series of games. In the end, the winner will walk away with $4,56 million.
The games played during the show are based on those played in the hit South Korean series.
Now, news has broke that letters of claim have been sent to Studio Lamber, the co-producer of the show. It details that some contestants are seeking financial compensation for the alleged injuries they sustained while they were filming the show in January.
The contestants chose to stay anonymous, but have said they suffered hypothermia and nerve damage as a result of the poor health and safety standards on set.
A spokesperson for the contestants said they “have sent letters of claim on behalf of contestants injured in this show”.
“From what we’ve been told they pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment. Production companies need to ensure that health and safety standards on their shows don’t leave people at risk of harm.”
