TOP 10 SAFEST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD
Every year, a list is compiled of the countries in the world where there is significantly more peace than in other countries.
The Peace Index is an estimate of how safe a country is.
The survey was conducted around the world, and each country received a score out of 5. The lower the score, the safer the country.
The world’s safest country is Iceland, with a Peace Index Score of 1.112.
This Nordic country has held the number one position since 2008. The country is so tranquil that it doesn’t even maintain an army.
The runner-up is Ireland with a Peace Index Score of 1.303.
The country’s national police force, Garda Siochana, is highly respected and is known for managing safety in the country effectively.
The third place goes to Austria. The Alpine country has a Peace Index Score of 1.313 and is known for having a very low crime rate. The economic costs of violence in Austria amounts to 4.23% of its GDP, among the lowest in the world.
The fourth place goes to New Zealand, followed by Singapore, Switzerland and Portugal to round up the top seven safest countries in the world.
Numbers eight, nine and ten are Denmark, Slovenia and Malaysia.
