TRUMP ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL RUN
Former president Donald Trump has announced that he will be running in the 2024 United States presidential election.
He officially entered the race during his announcement at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Tuesday.
“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”
Although he is banned from Twitter “due to the risk of further incitement of violence”, his campaign announcement was trending on the social media platform and also topped real-time Google search trends on the night of his announcement.
Fox News, the American news channel known for its support of Republicans and Trump, broadcasted his announcement live. It was noted by several Democrats that after 40 minutes, they eventually cut away and went back to programming because his speech ran so long.
Trump’s daughter Ivanka was notably missing from the announcement.
Market Watch reports that former first daughter Ivanka Trump, who served as a special advisor to the former president while he was in office, didn’t attend the Palm Beach announcement. She released a statement saying that, while she loves her father, she has decided “I do not plan to be involved in politics”.
