VERSACE’S FORMER NY APARTMENT ON SALE FOR $70 MILLION
Gianni Versace’s former townhouse apartment in New York is on sale for $70 million. It is located in Manhattan and overlooks Fifth Avenue while bordering Central Park.
It is listed by Sotheby’s International Realty.
The seven-bedroom mansion was bought by the late fashion designer in 1995 before he fully refurbished the interior.
The mansion has 17 luxuriously decorated rooms that are spread across six floors.
Every floor has its own theme and Sotheby’s says “Versace’s genius and vision are revealed over the first four floors, each presenting the designer’s legendary taste and permeates the home”.
The listing says the mansion, built in 1950, offers the buyer the chance to “live like royalty” and “own a piece of real estate and fashion history”.
“The floors are Italian marble and Austrian parquet. There are five fireplaces, painted walls and ceilings and mosaic.
Versace was known for his opulent style as the head designer of the Versace luxury fashion house. He started the brand alongside his brother and sister and went on to become one of the most celebrated brands in the nineties.
He was gunned down on the steps in front of his mansion in Miami by Andrew Cunanan when the fashion designer was 50 years old.
