WOMAN SUES L’ORéAL AFTER CONTRACTING CANCER

A woman in the United States has sued L’Oréal after she contracted uterine cancer. According to the lawsuit, she contracted cancer after using chemical hair straightening products sold by the company in the United States.

Jenny Mitchell said she had used the product in question for more than 20 years before the cancer was detected in her uterus. She then had to undergo a full hysterectomy.

The lawsuit was filed mere days after the publication of a study that established the link between using chemical hair straightening products and cancer, specifically uterine cancer.

EWN reports that the study found that women who used the products more than four times a year were more than twice as likely to develop uterine cancer than those who didn’t use the products.

In the lawsuit, Mitchell asks for damages from the American arm of the French cosmetics group. Neither the American arm nor the headquarters in France has commented on the matter.
