WREXHAM SCORING FINANCIAL GOALS

It seems as if the Hollywood effect has led to more than just scoring goals on the pitch for Wrexham.

The football club located in the town of Wrexham in Wales has reported record financial results for the club’s first year back in the English Football League (EFL).

The club’s annual report for the 2023-24 financial year was released on Monday. It showed a revenue of 26.7 million pounds and growth of 155% on the previous year.

There’s no doubt that the football club has turned a brilliant return on investment for its co-owners Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Reuters reports that the report showed the level of global interest in the north Wales club, with the geographical split of turnover seeing 52.1% generated from outside the UK, primarily North America, up from 24.5% in 2023.

The club was bought by the two actors in 2022 and new life was pumped into the club. This led to the club winning its lower tier league and being allowed back into the EFL.

A documentary about the two actors buying the club “Welcome to Wrexham” was shown on Netflix worldwide and gained a lot of attention.

The football club has had a massive impact on the town, and the chance to play in the EFL again has turned into something positive both on and off the pitch.
