EDDIE JONES RUMOURED TO HEAD TO JAPAN

Only two months after he walked out on the Wallabies, Eddie Jones is rumoured to be heading to Japan again.

Reports suggest that Jones, who previously coached Japan in 2015, is set to return to coach the national team. Local media reported that Jones attended an interview with the Japan Rugby Football Union in Tokyo on Thursday.

The 63-year-old gained prominence in Japan after he led the team to a historic win over the Springboks during the 2015 World Cup.

Besides having already been the national coach, Jones is no stranger to Japan. His wife is Japanese and lives there, and his mother is Japanese-American.

After coaching Japan, Jones went on to coach England. He had success with the English national team who went on to lose against South Africa during the final at the 2019 World Cup.

Since then, he hasn’t had much success as a coach. In 2022 he was fired by the England Rugby Union after losing eight of the 13 Tests played by the national team.

eNCA reports that he was hired by Australia in January but quit in October after two wins from nine Tests, including a worst-ever World Cup performance where the Wallabies failed to make it out of the pool phase.
