YOUTUBER FAKES PLANE CRASH, JAILED

Former Olympian snowboarder Trevor Jacob might have celebrated millions of views of his YouTube video, but he will from now on be celebrating in prison.

That’s because the 30-year-old has been found guilty of deliberately crashing his plane to increase the number of viewers on his channel.

Not only was the crash planned and carefully executed, but Jacob also proceeded to lie to investigators when he was questioned over the incident.

The video shows how Jacob is forced to eject from the single-engine plane and parachute into the Los Padres National Forest. The entire ordeal was captured on camera because not only did the plane have several cameras attached to it, but Jacob also had his selfie stick in his hand at all times.

RTE reports that in the weeks after the incident, investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched a probe into the crash, and Jacob was ordered to preserve the wreckage.

During the investigation, Jacob told officials that he wasn’t aware of the exact location of where the plane had crashed.

But, soon after he and a friend flew by helicopter to the exact location of where the crash happened and moved the wreckage to a nearby town with the use of straps.

What was left of the plane was then cut into smaller pieces and dumped into bins in the vicinity of the Lompoc City Airport.

Jacob has been jailed for six months in prison.
