IDRIS ELBA AND KEVIN HART ATTEND GORILLA BABY NAMING EVENT

Every year, prominent individuals from all over the world are invited to attend Rwanda’s annual gorilla naming ceremony.

This year’s event took place on Friday and actor Idris Elba along with his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba, as well as comedian Kevin Hart attended.

The Elba’s recently posted photos of their trip on Instagram. Idris captured the photo: “Sabi and I had the honour of attending the Kwita Izina naming ceremony in Rwanda.”

The couple could be seen wearing matching robes. After the ceremony they met with the country’s president, Paul Kagame.

“We also had an amazing conversation with President Kagame on the important role the creative arts can play in the shaping of Africa’s future.”

Sabrina also took to social media to share her experience.

“Thank you for letting us name a baby gorilla at this year’s Kwita Izina naming ceremony. We named our little guy Narame, which translates to long life. His mother lost her two previous babies, so we hope this one has a long and fruitful life.”

The first gorilla naming ceremony took place in 2005. The ceremony is based on the country’s tradition where locals name their kids in the presence of their loved ones.
