3 FIGHTS IN FIRST 9 MINUTES OF CANADA & USA ICE HOCKEY MATCH

To say there’s tension between the two countries is an understatement.

On Saturday, three fights broke out during the first nine minutes of an ice hockey game between the United States and Canada.

The tension was already in the air when the US national anthem was sung and the local Canadian crowds booed for the duration of the performance. The booing didn’t stop there; it continued while the American players were introduced.

Two seconds into the game, American Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Hagel from Canada dropped their gloves and started a fight.

Seconds later, Tkachuk’s brother Brady and Canada’s Sam Bennet aimed at each other.

The third, and luckily final fight, of the evening, took place between JT Miller from the US and Canada’s Colton Parayko.

The reason for the tension between the two neighbouring countries? US President Donald Trump recently said that Canada should become a US state. He also threatened to increase Canada’s tariffs on importing and exporting products.

The Americans did have the last laugh as they beat the host country 3 – 1 to be declared the champions.
