AFRIKAANS RAPPER ANGIE OEH DIES

Six days after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, Afrikaans rapper Angie Oeh has passed away. She was 24 years old.

The rapper, real name Angelique Greeff, died on Sunday at Wilgers Life Hospital in Pretoria.

The news of her death was confirmed by her friend and manager Wynand Myburgh.

“Those who met or worked with her will know how wonderful and special she was. We are not only losing a South African gem but also a very special friend and partner.”

When she was diagnosed with the cancer, she shared the news on her Instagram.

“I a scared. I am f&$cking scared. Every time I have a little time to think about it, I cry.”

When her diagnoses was made public, a BackaBuddy campaign was started to help the rapper cover some of her medical expenses. At the time of her death, the campaign had reached the R278,000 mark.

Tributes have been pouring in for the rapper with other musicians sharing their sorrow and grief.

Fellow rapper Biggy shared on his Facebook: “Cannot believe I have to make this post. You were still here yesterday. My heart is aching today.”

Musician van Pletzen posted on Instagram: “She was an incredible person who, in a very short time, made a big impact on a lot of people’s lives. And beneath that seemingly tough exterior was one of the softest and most beautiful people that I’ve ever met.”
