DARK AND LOVELY SHAMPOO RECALLED

The National Consumer Commission has recalled Dark And Lovely’s Moisture Plus relaxer kits. Both the Regular and Super options were recalled.

Another product from the same range that’s also been recalled is the Dark and Lovely anti-breakage kit.

The reason for the recall has been identified. According to the Commission, the shampoo contains traces of bacteria, which could lead to scalp infections in those with compromised immune systems.

In a statement released by the Commission, Deputy Commissioner Thezi Mabuza said “While this is single-use shampoo, we urge South Africans who might still have these products in their possession to stop use and return to the point of purchase for a full refund”.

Other countries that could be affected are Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, and Nigeria.

The traces of bacteria were discovered during a routine quality check by the Commission.

Products sold in South Africa are frequently tested to ensure it's safe for consumers to consume or use. If a product is recalled, it’s the manufacturer’s responsibility to pay the refunds to consumers through different retailers.
