KURT COBAIN’S BLUE FENDER TO BE AUCTIONED OFF
Known as one of the most famous guitars in the world of rock ‘n roll, Kurt Cobain’s blue Mustang Fender is about to be auctioned off.
The iconic 1969 guitar was played by the Nirvana lead singer in the1991 Smells Like Teen Spirit video which has been watched more than 1.4 billion times on YouTube.
The guitar is currently on display at the showroom at Julien’s Auctions, the auction house in Beverly Hills where the auction will take place.
Martin Nolan, a representative of the auction house said that “the guitar comes with its original case and, also, the guitar strap, so that’s… really important to collectors when they come to the auction to know the originality.”
After the American singer songwriter’s death in 1994, the guitar has been part of the Cobain family’s collection.
It’s believed that the guitar will fetch up to $800 000 during the auction that will take place online from 20 to 22 May. Cobain’s guitar is the star of the auction.
Cobain’s body was found inside his Seattle home in 1994 three days after he committed suicide. It was a month after he came out of rehab because of his cocaine addiction. He suffered from severe depression.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to a mental health charity.
