LIST OF CARS DISCONTINUED IN SOUTH AFRICA
2024 has seen the introduction of a lot of new models in the local car market. But, when new models are introduced, it’s a given that other models will be sacrificed.
12 cars have been identified as being discontinued this year. And it’s believed there are more models to be added to this list soon.
The Honda WR-X has been discontinued with the Elevate stepping up to the challenge in its place. The Mahindra XUV300 has been replaced by the XUV 3XO.
Citroen has made the big decision to revamp its entire offering with the former European C3 and C3 Aircross being replaced by new models from India.
Volkswagen has made the bold move to end the production of its entry-level Amarok bakkie while Nissan has pulled the plug on the Qashqai due to poor sales.
Other cars that have been discontinued include the Hyundai Kona, Jeep Renegade, Mazda BT-50, and the Toyota C-HR.
Even though the Nissan NP200 has still been selling like hotcakes, the Japanese manufacturer has stuck to its guns and will be going ahead with the discontinuation of the bakkie due to its ageing engineering.
The twelfth car to be discontinued this year is the Suzuki Vitara. The reason given by Suzuki is that it believes its SUV catalogue is well-covered by newer models like the Fronx and Grand Vitara.
