MEDICLINIC VICTIM OF CYBER ATTACK
The private hospital group Mediclinic has been the victim of a cyberattack.
The gang behind the attack, Everest Group, has given the acute care private hospital group until around 02:00 on Saturday, 1 June, to negotiate a price for not leaking the data that they’ve acquired.
The Everst Group shared screenshots of proof that they’ve gained access to the group’s systems, and in particular, it seems as if they got access to the group’s HR systems.
MyBroadband reports that this includes everything from salary information to details about disciplinary actions. Another screenshot shows a listing of a user’s home directory.
Mediclinic isn’t the only company targeted by the Everest Group this week, as it also claimed responsibility for an attack on Coca-Cola’s HR system.
Cellphone networks Cell C and MTN recently reported breaches of their security systems, while Adidas notified customers as recently as this week that it suffered a data breach.
This Adidas data breach included people’s names, email addresses, phone numbers, genders and birth dates.
Mediclinic hasn’t commented on the cyberattack yet.
