DARREN SCOTT DIES
Darren Scott has died. The South African radio legend passed away after a long and arduous struggle with cancer.
Scott, who celebrated 40 years on the airwaves, was a familiar voice on some of the country’s most popular stations, such as Capital FM, 5FM, Jacaranda FM, and East Coast Radio.
His last stint on the radio was behind the microphone at regional station Hot 102.7 FM.
Scott was inducted into the Radio Awards Hall of Fame as part of his celebration of four decades in radio.
Scott leaves behind his two small sons, Mark and Matthew.
His ex-wife, Sarah-Kate Accettao, who now lives in the United States, returned to South Africa regularly to care for Scott.
She launched a crowdfunding campaign to assist with his treatment.
“There are no words to truly express the depth of my gratitude to every single person who donated, prayed, and stood beside him during the fight of his life.
“I watched him, day after day, scroll through your messages in disbelief – humbled, overwhelmed, moved to tears. He couldn’t believe that so many people cared. Thank you for giving him that in his final months,” she continued.
