VOLCANO IN HAWAII ERUPTS LAVA AS HIGH AS EIFFEL TOWER
The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii has erupted again. Known as one of the world’s most active volcanoes, some areas of the fountains of lava erupted up to 300 meters in height.
In December 2024, the Kilauea volcano started to erupt. It was very sporadic, with some eruptions only lasting 13 hours, while others lasted as long as eight days.
Since then, this is the first time that the volcano has started its sporadic eruption again. It started on Sunday and lasted several hours as it shot lava hundreds of metres into the air while releasing massive plumes of ash and other volcanic material.
MSN reports that lava fountains from the mountain’s north vent reached heights of more than 300 metres.
Kilauea is one of six active volcanoes in Hawaii. It’s located in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, located about 300 kilometres from the capital, Honolulu.
Kilauea has become a popular tourist attraction, and tourists from all over the world have flocked to witness it, with some even being treated to a live eruption.
The United States Geological Survey offers several livestreams on YouTube of Kilauea’s volcanic activity.
