GAUTENG MAN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING RAMAPHOSA

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Germiston in Gauteng on Friday for threatening President Cyril Ramaphosa as well as other high-profile business people.

A case was opened against the man earlier this month.

The arrest was made by the Hawks, and the man faces charges of intimidation.

According to Hawks spokesperson Thandi Mbambo, the suspect allegedly sent a threatening voice message to a Cape Town-based CEO in which threats were made against Ramaphosa and others.

"The suspect is also alleged to have sent multiple threatening messages targeting the complainant, her family, and the Executive Mayor of Cape Town. The matter was reported to the Cape Town-based Hawks’ CATS team, which conducted a swift investigation resulting in the suspect’s apprehension in Gauteng."

He is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
