BIDEN DIAGNOSED WITH “AGGRESSIVE” CANCER
Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
A statement released by his office gave more details.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.
The 82-year-old, together with his family, “are reviewing treatment options with his physicians”.
The statement also said that “while this represents a more aggressive form of disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management”.
Biden took to X to comment on the news on Monday when he said that he, along with his wife, former first lady Jill Biden, “have learned that we are strongest in the broken places”.
He added: “Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
US President Donald Trump, who questioned Biden’s health while he was president, posted on Truth Social: “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
