SA WINS GOLD (AGAIN) AT CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the most prestigious flower show in the world, and South Africa walked away with another gold medal.
Just like last year, the design was orchestrated by Leon Kluge, the South African horticulturist and floral master. He was assisted by Tristan Woudberg and their massive team.
This year’s display was inspired by the ocean, specifically the different effects the Atlantic and Indian Oceans have on the fauna and flora in our country.
The concept led to a massive amount of locally grown flowers and fynbos being flown to London for the show. This was no easy feat, and it involved the cutting of 25,000 stems so that they could be put in water.
The Chelsea Flower Show is a hit among Londoners and the royal family themselves. This year’s show was attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla as well as Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
In the 40 years that the show has been going, South Africa has won 39 medals. In 2024, we walked away with gold again after not winning anything the year before that.
South Africa’s display is often a crowd favourite, with many looking forward to seeing what is on display.
