NEW GUINNESS RECORD FOR LARGEST WEARABLE CAKE DRESS
A Swiss baker is now the proud titleholder of a Guinness World Record after she baked the largest wearable cake dress in Bern, Switzerland.
Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas participated in the Swiss World Wedding fair. She was asked to bake a wedding cake that would become something special. The organisers definitely got more than what they hoped for when the world’s largest wearable cake dress made its way down the runway.
The cake weighed just over 131 kilograms including flowers made out of royal icing and the upper part of the dress was made out of sugar paste. The dress featured a sweetheart neckline.
News24 reports that underneath the aluminium frame was a small board holding the cake in place. It also had wheels that helped the model walk in it easily.
Natasha is the owner of a bakery that she opened in 2014. SweetyCakes specialises in custom cakes and is very popular. She told reporters that the cake dress was born out of a crazy idea.
“A few years ago, I was in the middle of my work as a cake designer, in my then tiny shop at the back of my mini studio and busy decorating a wedding cake, I had a crazy idea: How great would it be if a whole wedding dress was made of cake?”
After the exhibition, Natasha handed out slices of the dress cake to attendees.
