PEP GUARDIOLA HITS 1,000 GAMES
Pep Guardiola marked his 1,000th game in management in trademark fashion, leading Manchester City to a commanding 3–0 win over Liverpool.
The milestone wasn’t just another number; it confirmed his place among football’s all-time greats. Guardiola became only the 119th manager to reach 1,000 matches, and remarkably, the only one boasting a win rate above 70%.
From his beginnings with FC Barcelona’s B team to revolutionising the game with Barcelona’s first team, then continuing his dominance at Bayern Munich, Guardiola has left a mark wherever he’s gone. At Manchester City, he’s taken control and creativity to new heights, turning domestic dominance into a footballing art form.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who knows plenty about longevity, personally congratulated Guardiola for joining the “prestigious 1,000 Club,” praising his relentless drive and “indelible impact on the global game.” It was a fitting nod from one legend to another.
Guardiola, ever the perfectionist, kept it simple: “You just want to do a good job, play football the right way, and see what happens.”
After countless trophies, record-breaking seasons, and a legacy built on brilliance, what happens next will only add to Pep’s remarkable story.
