PRADA DESIGNS FIRST FEMALE SPACESUIT
The first woman to land on the moon might soon be a reality and there’s no doubt that she’ll be arriving in style.
Prada and NASA teamed up with Axiom Space to create the world’s first spacesuit specifically for a female astronaut.
The spacesuit was unveiled during the International Astronautical Congress that took place in Milan.
The white suit features a cropped torso and stone-grey patches across the knees and elbows. But, Prada hasn’t just added a fashionable element to the suit, it’s also functional.
The astronauts will now be able to spacewalk for at least eight hours per day thanks to specially engineered boots. The white material used for the suits is able to reflect heat which offers protection from the extremely high temperatures and lunar dust.
The suit will be used during the Artemis III mission which will take place during the second half of 2026. It’ll be the first astronaut moon landing since Apollo 17 in 1972.
If NASA’s mission is successful, it could be the first time a woman walks on the moon. She might be fashionably late, but she’ll arrive in style.
