PASTOR RAY MCCAULEY DIES
The founder of the Rhema Bible Church, Ray McCauley has passed away.
Just days after celebrating his 75th birthday, McCauley died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.
Tributes have been pouring in since the news broke.
The International Federation for Christian Churches’ acting general secretary, Reverend Mzwandile Molo said McCauley was a beacon of hope in the post-apartheid era.
“The loss to the nation of such a significant voice in the faith is deeply felt, especially in these times fraught with many social ills, where the nation continues to need a clear moral voice.
“In the post-apartheid society, his was a voice, amongst many, that not only called for the moral renewal of the country but spent his time in prayerful action for such a renewal.”
The South African Council of Churches released a statement to extend its condolences to McCauley’s wife, Zelda, and their son.
“To his community of faith – Rhema Bible Church, Rhema family of churches and the IFCC – your fellow sisters and brothers in the SACC express their condolences to you for the loss of such a great leader in the faith and a father figure in Christ to many of you.”
A service honouring McCauley’s legacy will occur on Thursday 17 October at 19:00.
