DONATE YOUR OLD JEANS TO WOOLWORTHS AND GET A VOUCHER

It’s for a good cause, and it will help you buy a good pair of jeans. Sounds good, right?

Woolworths is asking you to donate any worn pair of jeans to them for a voucher. This initiative involves donating denim garments to a group of grassroots seamstresses.

The women form part of a Cape Town-based NGO called Taking Care of Business (TCB), previously known as The Clothing Bank.

The NGO is no stranger to this idea as it’s previously been involved with something similar for luxury wine farm Babylonstoren.

They recently completed an order for door stoppers made from recycled fabric.

There are 20 stores participating in the initiative that will be accepting the worn denim items for 20%-off vouchers. In turn, the seamstresses will use the denim material and upcycle it into cushions, bags, toys, décor items and more.

The participating stores are the following:

  • Centurion Mall
  • Clearwater Mall
  • Cresta Centre
  • Eastgate Mall
  • Fourways Mall
