STUBBS SET TO SMASH IT FOR HAMPSHIRE HAWKS
South African batting dynamo Tristan Stubbs is heading to England to turn heads in the 2026 Vitality Blast after signing up with the Hampshire Hawks.
The 25-year-old Proteas international has built a reputation as one of the most dangerous hitters in white-ball cricket, and Hampshire fans are already buzzing about what he could bring to the campaign at Utilita Bowl this summer.
Stubbs’ arrival marks his first appearance in the T20 Blast, but he’s far from a newcomer to English conditions. He’s already played at the Ageas Bowl, featuring in South Africa’s T20I clash against England in 2022 and a 2025 ODI at the same ground, and he’s been lighting up franchise tournaments around the world.
Globally, Stubbs has been a prolific performer. Across 154 T20 matches, he’s scored over 3,100 runs at a strike rate north of 140, and in the last two IPL seasons with Delhi Capitals, he’s smashed more than 600 runs at a blistering rate of 170 while averaging 52.
Beyond the IPL, he’s also starred in the SA20, CPL, and The Hundred, showcasing his ability to adapt and dominate against top bowling attacks.
Just recently, Stubbs captained Sunrisers Eastern Cape to another SA20 title, top-scoring with a match-winning 63 in the final against Pretoria Capitals at Cape Town, evidence that he’s got the temperament to perform when it matters most.
Hampshire’s director of cricket, Giles White, didn’t hide his excitement, saying Stubbs is a “hugely talented player” whose links with the coaching staff and experience make him a brilliant fit for the Hawks. “We can’t wait to see him light up the Bowl,” White added.
