VW POLO IN HENNOPS RIVER BELIEVED TO BE AN ACCIDENT

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has said that after

initial reports have been conducted, they found “nothing sinister” regarding the death of the three police officers whose bodies were discovered in the Hennops River last week.

The last time the three officers were seen alive is at a petrol station close to the Grasmere Toll Plaza on the N1. Keamogetswe Buys, Boipelo Senoge, and Cebekhulu Linda were travelling to Limpopo from the Free State in a Volkswagen Polo hatchback.

The Polo was also found in the river.

The bodies and the car were discovered after authorities launched a large-scale operation into the disappearance of the three officers. The search involved police divers, drone units, and several rescue teams.

Soon after the car was retrieved from the river in Centurtion, Gauteng, national police commissioner, General Fannie Masemola said they didn’t suspect foul play due to the car’s position.

“We’re going to undertake an investigation of the car so that we come to a conclusion as to what exactly happened, but from the look of eyes, when you see … The car looks like it capsized first before it impacted on the wall, in the barrier on the side, and then it eventually went into the water.”
