WORKER TWEETS ELON MUSK TO FIND OUT IF HE’S BEEN FIRED

A furious Twitter worker has turned to the social media platform to ask Elon Musk whether he’s been fired as HR is unable to give him an answer.

Halli Thorleifsson tweeted Musk: “Your head of HR is not able to confirm if I am employed or not.”

According to Thorleifsson, he opened his computer on Sunday morning and saw that the screen was grey and locked, indicating that he had been locked out of his Twitter accounts. After a few days had passed, he started to reach out to people about his situation. This included Elon and the head of HR.

He said the head of HR had emailed him twice and was unable to answer whether he’s still an employee at Twitter or not.

Musk and Thorleifsson conversed through a string of tweets with Musk eventually commenting the following on the matter: “The reality is that this guy (who is independently wealthy) did no actual work, claimed as his excuse that he had a disability that prevented him from typing, yet was simultaneously tweeting up a storm. Can’t say I have a lot of respect for that”.

Thorleifsson confirmed to the BBC that he sold his company, Ueno, a creative design agency, to Twitter in early 2021, after founding the firm in Reykjavik, Iceland in 2014. As part of the acquisition, he became a full-time employee at Twitter.

Thorleifsson has muscular dystrophy. Musk has since issued an apology to Thorleifsson.
