A shocking video shows a 3-year-old girl being lifted up to 100 feet in the sky. The girl reportedly got caught on a giant kite at a festival in the seaside town of Nanlioao, Taiwan.

The video shows a group of helpers struggling to contain the giant length of orange material as they are battered by heavy winds. Eventually, after some struggle, the crowd’s cheer at the kite first taking flight. Soon after, screams of horror were heard when the end of the kite's long tail follows with the little girl caught up and soaring with it.

The small girl was repeatedly tossed around. A local reported cited that she went as high as 100 feet, and spent at least 30-seconds being tossed around in the air.

Fortunately, the wind finally abated enough so that the kite could be lowered close enough for a group of people attending the festival to pull the child to to safety.

The girl, who is only identified by the surname Lin due to privacy of a minor, escaped serious injury. However the girl did suffer some mild scratches to her face and neck.

It is not clear how the girl became caught up in the kite, which was reported to have been wrapped around her stomach.

The annual festival was called off after the incident, and Nanlioao's mayor Lin Chih-chien said; "The city government team offers its sincere apology to the victim and the public."
