500 ENVELOPES FILLED WITH CASH FOUND HIDDEN IN JOEL OSTEEN’S CHURCH’S BATHROOM WALL
In 2014, famous evangelist Joel Osteen told the world that his church in Houston was robbed of hundreds of thousands of dollars in the form of cash and cheques.
According to Osteen back then, the money was stolen out of a safe along with the credit card details of members of the church.
At the time, Osteen announced that the funds were insured and that he, along with the staff at the church, were working with authorities to get to the bottom of the matter.
Everyone just assumed that the money vanished until a local Houston radio show recently asked listeners to call in and share their random valuable discovery stories.
A caller who only identified himself as Justin told the host that he is a plumber and had to do repair work at the Lakewood Church earlier this year when he came across envelopes of cash.
“There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile,” the caller said. “We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall.”
Business Insider reports that the plumber was in shock as he counted thousands of dollars in cash and checks stuffed in the envelopes.
All of the money was turned in and handed over to the police. The police gave the money back to the church as it was found on their premises.
