ACCIDENT NEAR LANSERIA CLAIMS FIVE LIVES

Five people have died in an accident between a light motor vehicle and a bakkie near Lanseria. The driver of the bakkie has been seriously injured.

According to ER24, the accident happened on the R512 in Renosterspruit on Friday morning. When their paramedics arrived on the scene just after 07:00, the five occupants of the light motor vehicle were declared dead.

The driver of the bakkie was found to be in a serious condition and was transported to a local hospital to treat his injuries.

Speaking to Jacaranda FM, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said both vehicles had sustained a significant amount of damage in the collision.

The cause of the crash is to be investigated.
