ADELE CONVINCES SPOTIFY TO REMOVE SHUFFLE BUTTON
It seems as if she has the world at her feet at the moment and there’s no denying that Adele has the power to influence an entire industry. And that’s exactly what she did.
The singer has convinced music streaming app Spotify to remove the shuffle button from all album pages. This means if you listen to an album, the tracks will play in the order preferred by the artist and according to the tracklisting.
Sharing the news with her followers on social media, Adele tweeted “We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our tracklisting for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening.”
To which Spotify aptly replied, “anything for you”.
According to a Spotify spokesperson, the company was excited to roll out the feature which was “long requested by both users and artists”.
The spokesperson said Spotify users could still choose to shuffle an album, but the system would default to playing tracks in the order chosen by the artist, reports the BBC.
