AIRLINE WOULDN’T LET WOMEN FLY BECAUSE OF HER HALTER TOP
A woman who wanted to fly from New York to Chicago with an American based airline, was told she won’t be allowed to board the plane because of her halter neck shirt.
BuzzFeed reports that staff of Southwestern Airlines told Kayla Eubanks at the boarding gate that she won’t be allowed to fly with them because her halter neck shirt is "lewd, obscene, and offensive".
The staff member said that it’s against their company’s policy to allow passengers on their flights if they disobey the company’s dress code. That’s when 23-year-old Kayla started recording the incident and asked to see the policy.
She had to wait 20 minutes for the airline staff to produce the policy and the incident ended up delaying the flight.
Inside Edition reports that on the airline’s website, it says they have the right to refuse a passenger to board their plane if the passenger is "wearing clothes that are lewd, obscene or patently offensive".
That’s when the captain of the plane came to Kayla’s rescue. He offered to give her his T-shirt to wear so that she would be permitted to board the plane. Kayla accepted and later posted a selfie of herself wearing the captain’s T-shirt while in the air.
But, she then took off the captain’s shirt once in the air and was asked to speak to a manager once they landed in Chicago.
Southwestern Airlines issued an apology to Kayla and refunded her ticket.
