AKA GIVES HIS VERSION OF WHAT HAPPENED THE NIGHT ANELE DIED

Rapper AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, has done a tell-all interview with Thembekile Mrototo following the death of his fiancé Anele Thembe.

Anele fell to her death from a balcony in the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town a month ago.

According to the rapper, the couple got into a heated argument on that fateful night. Anele threatened to kill herself, something she has done before. AKA says he went to call the hotel security and then went to the bathroom, when he came out of the bathroom she was gone.

It was only then that he realised she wasn’t in the room anymore. According to him, he checked the room and then stepped out onto the balcony where he saw her lying on the ground. The rapper has said that his memories of the night were “blurry”.

Shortly after her death, a friend of Anele shared a video with news outlets. The footage showed the rapper breaking down a door as he tries to get to Anele after she locked herself in a room following an argument between the two at their house in Bryanston before their trip to Cape Town.

While Forbes referred to himself as “passionate” and admitted that he has “anger” issues during the interview with Mrototo, many have accused him of being abusive towards his fiancé.

Since the interview was published, Anele’s dad, Moses referred to AKA’s allegations that he was never afforded the chance to speak at her funeral. The businessman said that during the week leading up to her funeral there were several memorial services held and that the rapper never asked to speak at any of these occasions.
