AUTHOR SHOT BY POLICE, CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

Jillian Lauren, the American best-selling author, has been shot by police in Los Angeles.

Police officers were trying to find three suspects who had fled the scene of a car accident when the incident took place.

One of the suspects ended up on Lauren’s street where she lives. She is married to Scott Shriner, the bassist for the rock band Weezer.

Local media reported that Lauren fired shots at one of the hit-and-run suspects after they tried to break into her property.

A statement released by the Los Angeles Police Department said the 51-year-old Lauren emerged from her house with a weapon and refused to drop it despite “numerous” demands.

Lauren and her babysitter were called out to the front of the house

She “then pointed the handgun at the officers”, who shot her in the shoulder.

After being shot, Lauren and the babysitter ran back into the house and only emerged 30 minutes later. Both women were arrested, and Lauren was treated at a nearby hospital.

Lauren has been charged with attempted murder, and a 9mm handgun was found at her house.

The hit-and-run driver was arrested, but his identity hasn’t been released. Two other suspects are still at large.
