BABY ON NIRVANA ALBUM COVER SUES BAND

The baby who appeared naked on rock band Nirvana’s cover album back in 1991 is suing the band for “lifelong damages including extreme and permanent emotional distress with physical manifestations”.

Spencer Elden, now 31-years-old, is suing several parties including the surviving members of the band, Kurt Cobain’s wife Courtney Love as well as the various record labels that released or distributed the album over the last 30 years.

The album cover for Nevermind features a four-month-old Elden swimming underwater towards a dollar bill while naked.

The Guardian reports that back in 2016, Elden recreated the image with the New York Post newspaper to mark the album’s 25th anniversary, saying: “It’s cool but weird to be part of something so important that I don’t even remember.”

Later that year Elden is quoted as saying that he’s recently been thinking about the fact that he didn’t have a choice in the matter. “What if I wasn’t OK with my freaking penis being shown to everybody?”

None of the defendants have responded to the lawsuit yet. Elden is seeking minimum damages of $150,000 from each of the 15 defendants, plus costs, and he has requested that the case be tried with a jury.
