BARBIE BEATS OPPENHEIMER

The Barbie Movie has become the biggest film of the year so far in both the United States and Canada.

According to the movie’s distributor, Warner Bros, Barbie made an estimated $155 million in its opening weekend.

Close, but not close enough was Oppenheimer. The movie also opened this weekend and made $93.7 million in the United States.

This is great news for cinemas as streaming has become people’s platform of choice when watching movies, often illegally.

The competition between the two movies was named Barbenheimer as people across the world geared up to visit the cinemas again.

According to IMBD, Barbie is about Barbie and Ken having the time of their lives in the colourful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

IMDB says Oppenheimer is set during World War II, when Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb.

Both movies are now showing in cinemas.
