BERNIE'S GLOVES STEAL THE SHOW

All eyes were on Washington yesterday as Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States. Right next to him was Kamala Harris, the first female, first black, and first South-Asian vice president. Outgoing president Donald Trump was nowhere to be seen, although his former vice president Mike Pence was there.

But what really stole the show? Bernie Sanders' gloves. The senator from Vermont wore a pair of wooly gloves. At first, he was mocked on social media and his gloves were trending at one stage for all the wrong reasons. Then people came to know about the background of the gloves and started appreciating the gesture.

Twitter user, Ruby Cramer, reported that the gloves were made by a teacher called Jen Ellis from Vermont. She gave it to the senator during his presidential campaign more than two years ago.

What makes these gloves extra special? They are made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined inside with fleece made from recycled plastic bottles.

While his gloves were spared, the senator himself wasn't.
