BIDEN TO MEET WITH POPE FRANCIS

US President Joe Biden is set to meet with Pope Francis. Biden will visit the Vatican on 29 October, the White House announced.

Biden will be in Rome for the G20 summit from 30 to 31 October where he will be joined by his wife, First Lady Jill.

In a statement, the White House said that Biden and Pope Francis will discuss working together on efforts grounded in respect for fundamental human dignity, including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling the climate crisis, and caring for the poor.

Biden is the second Catholic president and attends mass every week. John F. Kennedy was the country’s first Catholic president.

News24 reports that Biden often quotes scripture and sometimes wears a rosary around his left wrist from the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico that his son Beau was wearing the day he died of brain cancer in 2015.
