The world’s tallest building played host to the world’s biggest gender reveal this weekend.
The Burj Khalifa in Dubai was used as the platform to reveal the gender of social media influencers Anas and Asala Marwah’s baby that’s on the way.
The couple, known as the Anasala family to their more than 7 million YouTube subscribers, found out that their second child is a boy when the entire building lit up in blue with the words It’s a Boy written on the one side.
The couple’s family got together for the big reveal and counted down from 10 to 0 when the 828-meter-high building lit up to reveal the gender.
On their YouTube channel, the couple said the idea behind the big reveal was that they wanted to do something special but also meaningful, so that their followers “will look back at it and see what we built and created”.
While the two influencers created hype around the reveal on their social media platforms, they couldn’t tell their followers exactly when and where it will happen due to fears that large crowds could gather around.
“Because of (the) corona (virus), we were afraid that if we told you, many people will gather in the same spot.”
While many of their fans were elated at the big reveal and congratulated the couple on the exciting news, there were harsh critics among them as well. This comes after a recent gender reveal party in southern California caused a massive fire.
The New York Post reports that among the fires currently ravaging the west coast of the United States is the El Dorado wildfire, which was started after a pyrotechnics display for a gender reveal went horribly wrong.
The fire had a devastating effect on the San Bernardino National Forest and for those living in the area. Thousands of people had to evacuate with the fire still spreading. The fire started as California was hit by one of its hottest heat waves in history.
Ironically, the couple also revealed that they will be moving to California soon to start a new life.
