BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN SELLS HIS MUSIC CATALOGUE

Bruce Springsteen Sells His Music Catalogue

Sony has reportedly bought Bruce Springsteen’s entire music catalogue rights for his life’s work for $500 million. This includes the master recordings and publishing rights.

Sony now owns the rights of Springsteen’s 20 studio albums, including classics like Born To Run, The River and Born In The USA.

Springsteen is not the first music star to do so. He follows in the footsteps of Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Tina Turner.

The BBC reports that Warner Music bought the worldwide rights to Bowie’s music in September, and Dylan sold his catalogue of more than 600 songs in December last year to Universal Music Group at a purchase price widely reported as $300 million.

Springsteen is one of the most successful musicians of his time. He was born in New Jersey and became very popular when he released his album Born To Run in 1975. According to Wikipedia, Springsteen has sold more than 150 million records worldwide and more than 64 million albums in the United States, making him one of the world’s best-selling music artists.
