CILLIAN MURPHY TO STAR IN PEAKY BLINDERS MOVIE
Actor Cillian Murphy is set to return as gang leader Tommy Shelby in the Peaky Blinders movie.
The hit TV series is centred around Irish gangs and has made Murphy a household name. Now, the movie will be shot in September.
Peaky Blinders is set around the real-life gang with the same name who ruled the streets of Birmingham from the 1880s until the 1910s.
Steven Knight, the creator of the series and the movie, confirmed the news.
“He definitely is returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”
The Irishman has just won his first Oscar for his lead role in Oppenheimer. This led to fans speculating whether he will return for another season of Peaky Blinders.
In Oppenheimer, Murphy portrayed the role of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the movie that was directed by Christopher Nolan.
Murphy won the Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Satellite Award for Oppenheimer and was the king of the red carpet during this year’s awards season.
