DIGHA FISHERMEN PULLS RARE SPECIES OUT OF FISHING WATERS

A rare fish known as the Chilshankar fish, was pulled out of the waters by Digha fishermen in West Bengal.

This rare species is in high demand this season, and Digha's fishermen are ecstatic about the rare discovery seeing that it is the first time they have caught it.  Not only did they meet the demand, but pulled the rare fish weighing in at 800kg.

The huge black flying ship shaped fish was caught in a trawler ,which is owned by an Orissa man.

Catching the rare fish became such a big deal that tourists and locals gathered to see how huge it was.

A local fisherman reported to the India Today; “This is Chilshankar fish. It weighs 800kg. The market price of this fish is Rs 2,100 per kg. We have never seen such a big and rare fish."

Since the fish weighed a hefty pound, the fishermen was not able to move the fish right away, but was able to move the fish with the help of rope.

After the fish was loaded into a van, it was transported to the Mohana Fisher's Association.
