DUTCH BRIDGE COULD BE DISMANTLED TO LET BEZOS’ YACHT THROUGH

A historic bridge in the Dutch city of Rotterdam could be taken apart to allow American billionaire Jeff Bezos’ superyacht through.

The BBC reports that the luxury yacht, linked to the world’s richest man, is being built by Dutch firm Oceano. The vessel is reported to be 127m long and too tall to fit through the Koningshaven Bridge.

This new yacht is an upgrade on his old one, the $400 million Flying Fox.

This won’t be the first time that the bridge has been taken apart. In 2017 the local municipality took the bridge apart to carry out renovation work before assembling it again.

A BBC reporter chatted to locals who shared their disapproval of the matter. The locals aren’t impressed with the idea because they feel it would never even have been considered for “normal people” but because Bezos is a billionaire, he gets away with it.

The town’s mayor has denied that any decision to dismantle the bridge has been taken.
