ELON MUSK HELPS UKRAINE WITH INTERNET CONNECTION

Elon Musk has come to the rescue of Ukraine after the Russian invasion has disrupted internet service for some.

In a matter of a few hours, internet connection was re-established for those users affected by the internet disruption in Ukraine. This is thanks to SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

Business Insider reports that a Ukrainian government official tweeted at Musk on Saturday, asking for Starlink terminals. Musk personally responded just hours later, saying Starlink internet is now active in Ukraine, and terminals are on their way.

The tweet said: “While you try to colonize Mars – Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space – Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand.”

The tweet was posted by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.

Last month Musk offered to send similar Starlink stations to Tonga where a volcanic eruption caused internet outage on the island nation.

According to Business Insider, Starlink is a growing network of private satellites hovering in a low orbit aiming to provide high-speed internet service around the world. There are more than 1 500 Starlink satellites currently operational.
