F1'S ALAN VAN DER MERWE COULD LOSE JOB OVER JAB
South African driver Alan van der Merwe refuses to get vaccinated and it has now come to light that he may lose his job due to this.
Van der Merwe is F1's official medical car driver and during races, it's his responsibility to get the medical team to an accident as fast as possible. He's held this position since 2009 and has always been commended for his driving skills.
He has contracted Covid twice since the beginning of the current season, yet he still refuses to get vaccinated, something that's not taken up lightly by his employer.
Many countries require people to get vaccinated if they want to enter and mass events are mostly only open to the vaccinated.
This could mean that van der Merwe won't be able to enter certain countries or attend the races he's employed to attend.
The F1 organisers haven't commented on the matter yet, but van der Merwe made his stance known on social media.
Many of his followers weren't kind when it came to sharing their opinions about his decision.
At this stage, it's still unclear whether van der Merwe might be unemployed soon, but rumours are doing the rounds that the F1 is under pressure to show they're committed to fighting the pandemic which has meant that most of last year's races were cancelled.
