FIFA 2026 WORLD CUP MASCOTS UNVEILED
World, meet Clutch the Bald Eagle, Zayu the Jaguar and Maple the Moose. Each of these three mascots represents one of the host nations at next year’s tournament.
In a statement, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the mascots represent elements of their country’s culture.
“Maple, Zayu and Clutch are full of joy, energy and the spirit of togetherness, just like the FIFA World Cup itself.”
Speaking of the unity behind the mascots, he gave more details about the different cultures being represented.
Maple is the goalkeeper.
“Maple the Moose was born to roam, journeying across all of Canada’s provinces and territories while connecting with people and embracing the country’s rich culture.”
Zayu, the striker, represents Mexico and hails from the country’s jungles.
“Zayu embraces Mexican culture through dance, food and tradition, uniting people across borders with passion. More than an athlete, Zayu is a symbol of cultural celebration and connection, carrying the heart of Mexico with pride.”
Clutch the Bald Eagle is a midfielder who embraces “every culture, game and moment with boundless curiosity and optimism”.
The tournament will kick off in Mexico City, Mexico, on 11 June 202,6 with the finals scheduled to be held in New Jersey, United States, on 19 July.
There will be a total of 104 matches, the biggest of its kind that the FIFA World Cup has ever seen. This tournament has been expanded to include 48 national teams instead of the usual 32.
This isn’t the only thing that will make this FIFA World Cup stand out. For the first time, a halftime show will be included in the final match.
