DE ALLENDE AND ETZEBETH BACK IN SQUAD
Springbok legends Damian de Allende and Eben Etzebeth have both been chosen to play against Argentina in Durban on Saturday.
The match is set to be make or break for either of the teams as they must both win to keep their Rugby Championship title hopes a reality.
De Allende will play inside centre as he replaces Damian Willemse, who will be switching to fullback in place of Aphelele Fassi, who was injured during South Africa’s match against New Zealand in Wellington.
Etzebeth also replaces another injured player in the form of lock Lood de Jager. De Jager was also injured during the Springboks’ record defeat against the All Blacks.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said his team isn’t taking Argentina’s performance over the last couple of weeks for granted.
"They’ve (Argentina) made big strides in the last few seasons, and have an astute coach in Felipe Contepomi, so we know they are going to throw everything at us.
"Adding to that, they boast a strong forward pack and extremely talented backs, so they pose threats all around."
As it stands, Australia is at the top of the log in the Rugby Championship with 11 points. South Africa and New Zealand share second place with 10 points, while Argentina is last on the log with 9 points.
Saturday’s game in Durban would be the penultimate round in the series.
