THE STUDIO RULES AT EMMYS
A Hollywood satire series was the biggest winner at the 77th annual Emmy Awards. The awards show honouring the biggest shows on the small screen was held on Monday in Los Angeles.
This year, The Studio became the most-awarded show of the year. The Seth Rogan-created show picked up a total of 13 wins across the Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys.
Not only did it win the award for best comedy series, but also for best actor in a comedy series and best writing in a comedy series. The Studio broke a record for the most Emmy wins for a brand-new comedy series.
Colin Farrell’s The Penguin managed to win the best actress award when Cristin Miloti’s name was announced.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Adolescence was another big winner in the limited series category. It managed to win an award for best writing, but three of the characters also walked away with major awards: Stephen Graham for lead actor, and Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty, both for supporting actor and supporting actress, respectively.
The best drama series went to the new medical drama The Pitt, with Noah Wyle, from ER fame, who won the award for best actor in a drama.
When it comes to talk shows, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has never won an Emmy during its five years on air. That streak was broken last night when it won the award in the outstanding talk series category.
Stephen, an obvious favourite among Hollywood’s elite, got major recognition from the crowd as they chanted ‘Stephen’ while he and his team made their way to the stage.
